Ride 05/01/2019

Well first ride of the year and given the large number that turned up today looks like a few new years resolutions have kicked in Today we actually went at a reasonable pace so much so I didn’t struggle at all today and was with the group all the way round, and didn’t even get dropped going up knock hill Should be interesting to see what happens tomorrow at the club has instigated a new Sunday route which means we will no longer pick a random route on the Sunday ride, it’s a fixed route going around Loch Leven of about 50 miles.

So it’s out with the Sunday 18 mph crew today and it was a tough ride! We went over knock hill twice and up dunning hill once, only at an avg of 16 mph but that was enough to kill me. I managed to keep up with the group going up dunning hill but going over knock hill the second time I got dropped which I was expecting. The head wind didn’t help much even when I was at the back of the group, so it was a hard slog all the way around today.

Ride 26/12/2108 boxing day club ride

The club organised a little boxing day ride, I was quite surprised at how many turned up for it there were about 24 for us so we split into 2 groups with me joining the faster group. It was a pleasant days ride as the temps were quite mild for this time of year although a little windy in places. We did a loop around Loch Leven at a steady pace of 16 mph which suited me fine, not as mad as the usual Saturday 18 mph job

Having not ridden last weekend due to terrible weather, this mornings ride was a bit of a struggle to keep up. Got dropped going up knockhill and I never caught the group up again so I was on my own until I got home. Tomorrows ride is even harder since it’s a longer route so I’m skipping that and carrying on with the house decorating for now, want to try and get that finished before the end of the year.

Well it was a nice sunny day but stupidly freezing, in fact it was so bad one of the roads we cycled down we came upon another group of riders all lying across the road :-0 They had hit ice at speed and the entire group had gone down hard, must have been about 10 – 15 of them, I dare say there were a few cuts and bruises but I didn’t see anyone needing medical help. Suffice to say we all got off our bikes and walked the next 50 meters until we were sure we were past the worst of it. The rest of the day went fine and once the sun had got up high enough it thawed the roads out, but we stuck to the main roads after that. Since I hadn’t ridden yesterday I felt fine today and was able to keep up with the group and we weren’t hammering it speed wise so that helped me as well

Well the weather was semi decent this morning, yes there was rain but it was light so in the end it was a decent ride. Of course due to the bad forecast only 2 of us turned up today so we decided to do a loop to Stirling with no cafe stop to save time. Thankfully the pace was reasonable as doing 60 miles non stop would push me to my limits. Anyway made it home tired and friggin starving!

Saturday club run on a ok weather day, I actually managed to keep up with the group the entire route even over knock hill Not sure why, it felt like they were going at a sensible pace over the hill but looking at the stats this was the fastest climb I’ve ever done over the hill. Anyhow not complaining glad to have a good ride today as tomorrow looks to be a wash out weather wise

So this mornings club run was a hillier route which reflects the lower avg speed but it was still a hard ride. Riding on roads some of which I’ve never ridden before, it was a sunny day but a cold one at that and we even went over Lomond Hills which was a first for me and a slog to climb. All in all nearly 60 miles clocked up and I was able to keep up with the group most of the time, except when going up the hills.

This mornings bun run there were only 2 of us but that’s fine by me. The first 30 miles were fine and dry but the next 25 where raining so by the time I got back home I was wet It was a longer run today with the usual run down to Kincardine but this time we went around Loch Leven which was good for me as we would pass my home on the way back to Dunfermline rather than finishing the ride in Dunfermline and me having to ride back to crossgates. Fast ride again today but this time I was able to keep up with the other guy, most of the way, I got dropped going up the hills but not by much, all in all a good days ride
