Ride 14/05/2018 Perth

Ride 14/05/2018 PerthGarmin Connect

Well it was a lovely day today so I decided to ride to Perth. Wasn’t in any particular rush so I took my time and enjoyed the day. Stopped at Perth for lunch and then headed back home. Stupid Garmin froze on me again but this time it didn’t loss all my data only a little bit so I probably clocked up a little over 75 miles today.

It’s a nice sunny day and not too much wind around so I decided to do a sprint around the Forth. A good speed a time set not my best, thats been 2:09:09 but I’m only 12 mins out so can’t complain. Next weeks weather is supposed to be good as well so hopefully I can get some more cycling done in preparation for this years charity ride in the Pyrenees.

It’s probably been a good 3 years since I’ve been up here but it’s a nice day and since my road bike is in for repairs all I had left was the mountain bike. I’ve always done this going clockwise around the hill but this time I went anticlockwise, and it was nice to see its a bit easier this way. Going clockwise there are some very steep sections that I cannot cycle up and have to push my bike up. It was a bit windy at the summit so I only stopped to take some pictures and headed back down again. There was a small landside going back down so I’m glad I went anticlockwise as it get a little bit dangerous so I had to walk down this bit as the landslide had diverted the stream onto the track and made it muddy and wet, but once past it I was back on the bike, so all in all a good days ride.

Well todays ride was supposed to be 70 miles but stupid me forgot to take his water bottles so I had to ride back home to pick them up, thankfully I noticed fairly quickly so only an extra 5 miles was accumulated. It was a nice day with a bit of wind about so I decided to do a loop around Balerno. Unfortunately once I hit Belerno it was all headwind uphill for a little over 15 miles which took its toll on me but once I was heading North again I had an easier time. A little over 76 miles knocked out on what would be a nice ride to do without the head wind.

It’s a reasonable day weather wise so decided to ride to the new house, stop their for lunch and pick up the mail. I then heading on to Kirkcalty and cycled back home via the coastal route. A longer ride that I had planned, was only going for around 55 miles but not too bad a ride, good distance and speed.

Well it’s that time of year again and on with Ride It Callander 2018. I hadn’t ridden for 2 weeks and that was stupid and I paid the price for it, I was knackered by the time I got to the end of the course and cramping up on the ride didn’t help either >:-( Anyway the weather was fine so thank god for that, Evans did this ride a couple of years ago so I knew what to expect, ironically going up Duke’s Pass wasn’t the issue the last hill at the end 5 miles was the killer for me but another one bits the dust and onto July’s Lanark ride. I even got a medal for doing this ride, I didn’t know this was the 10th anniversary of these rides

It was a mixed bag weather day with some rain, wind and sunshine but nothing to drastic in either element. I wanted to do some hill training so headed for Aberfolye and Duke Pass. I rode up Dukes Pass a couple of time before lunch and then twice over it to Loch Achray after lunch. Not very far distance wise but a decent amount of elevation and not totally knackering myself out in the process

Well I just couldn’t resist it could I SNOW! lots of fun to cycle in if you can stay upright which was difficult in some places where I had to walk the bike as the front end would just slide out in front of me or the rear end would get no traction and I would be left pedaling standing still until I fell off. Decided I would try and do my 15 mile loop via Shieldhill but I only got so far before I hit a wall of snow which was higher than me Ironically you can’t tell this by the pictures I took, should have put my bike in shot for a frame of reference. Anyway some smart arse digger had piled all the snow up at one end of the road so I couldn’t eve dig my way through, the road on the other side wasn’t clear of snow yet but it was walkable had I been able to get through. So I had to back track all the way back to Falkirk

Another sunny day but a cold one at that and with a biting wind. Decided to head to the new house and pick up some stuff I left there last week by mistake. I would be heading into the wind all the way there which made it slow and cold. Once there I stopped for a little bit to eat and headed back riding with the wind but going a different way home. Over 50 miles knocked out and now I’m knackered again.

It was a reasonable weather day, bit on the dull side, not baltic and little wind and probably just as well. I haven’t ridden for 2 weeks so I needed to gt my finger out so set a target of 50 miles. Did a west loop around the Forth river and onto Blairingone but turn off before hitting this and headed for Kincardine bridge. Once across it was on to Grangemouth and around to Polmont heading back home. By the time I got home I was quite tired but pleased with getting the target.

Well it’s a sunny day today but still a bit cold so I decided ride through Carron Valley over Crow road to Lennoxtown and back home via Kilsyth. It’s been 2 weeks since I’ve ridden thanks to crap weather so today was the first opportunity with decent weather to ride. Or it was until I got to the top of Crow road where it got very dark and cold and proceeded to snow on me Thankfully by the time I got to the bottom it had stopped and with a tail wind now I could ride home comfortably.
