Boxing day 2019

Boxing day 2019

So I was out with the club today on their annual boxing day ride, about 20 people turned up so we split into 2 groups. The ride was a cut down version of the Sunday ride skipping out Dollar and the cafe stop. A slightly slower ride today than yesterday and the weather wasn’t as good but still worth doing to keep the bloat at bay

Christmas day 2019

Christmas day 2019

What a glorious day to go cycling it’s bright and sunny and not too cold about 1 degree or so with very little wind around. I decided to cycle my Kirkcaldy loop which I haven’t done a while. It’s short enough to get around in a couple of hours, to get back home for lunch but challenging enough to give me a little workout I extended it by 5 miles, usually it’s only 25 mile long but it was such a nice day I wanted a slightly longer run. So I clocked up 33 miles with an avg speed of 15 mph. I’ll be cycling with the club tomorrow on their usual boxing days ride so this will keep me in good stead for that

Ride 22/12/2019

Bit of an interesting ride today, started out raining so I wasn’t expecting many to turn up if anyone but eventually there were four of us to start the ride. Unfortunately one of the guys got a puncture about 3 miles out so our first stop was to fix that. Then about 100 meter from the top of knockhill the same guy who got the puncture had his tire explode which was quite shocking cos it was bloody loud! Unfortunately Graeme;s tyre had a split in it and the inner tube was bulging out of it. We managed to patch his tyre up enough for him to get down the hill and back to his car. So three of us continued on thankfully it had stopped raining by this point and it’s a mild day so we were able to get the full ride done without any more dramas

Ride 21/12/2019

It’s the Saturday bun run and today there were 7 of us, it’s actually quite a nice day, a bit dark to start with this morning but it soon brightened up with bright sunny spells and quite mild for December. A good ride today nothing too hard but a steady pace of 15 mph.

Ride 15/12/2019

So today was better than yesterday, yesterday was a bit wild so I didn’t ride but today was fine albeit cold with some sunny spells. Although we did have to put up with some snow over knockhill once off the hill it was fine. 50 miles clocked up but a bit on the slow side at 13 mph

Ride 07/12/2019

Bit of a dull day a little damp but no rain thankfully that was scheduled for the afternoon and quite a mild day for winter. The usual bun run today with a slightly different ending that had us doing a little off roading on a road bike Of course by the time I got home the bike was a muddy mess so that required cleaning before I took in in but other than that a pleasant days ride.

Well it was lonesome me on his todd yesterday as no one else turned up but given the weather that’s not surprising. It was actually warmer yesterday only -5 to Sat’s -6 but still icy so I stuck to the roads again. I decided to do a shorter ride and not do a cafe stop which meant I would be back home in time for lunch and not in the cold for so long but 2 hours was still long enough to start to freeze up my water bottles Thankfully my extremities weren’t frozen this time around but they still got cold so I was glad of the hot shower when I got home. 30 miles clocked up at an avg speed of 15 mph and let’s hope it’s not quite as cold next week.

Ride 30/11/2019

Well it’s a bright sunny day but fuck me it’s cold -7 degrees was what my garmin was telling me I wasn’t expecting too many people to turn up today and sure enough only 3 of us actually rode today. With 4 layers on my core temp was fine but my toe’s got pretty damn cold and my fingers too but after riding for about an hour I started to warm up. By the time we got to the cafe stop my hands were fine but my toes were still cold Anyway we stayed in the cafe for longer than usual just to get warmed up and since it was mostly up hill on the return leg I was fine temperature wise until I got home again. It was even cold enough to freeze the water in my water bottle to a slushy state and one of the guys I was riding with his almost froze solid Tomorrow’s weather isn’t any warmer so I might need to add some anti freeze to my water bottle

Well it’s a far drier day and probably slightly warmer but only 4 of us turned up today which I was surprised at given today was the better weather day. It’s the usual Sunday bun run over Knockhill and down to Dollar and then back up to Dollarbeg and along to Muircot Cafe tor our coffee and cake stop. After refreshments it’s on to Coalsnaughton and Alloa and back through Clackmannan, Kincardine and along the coast road back to Dunfermline and home. 50 miles clocked up at and average speed of 15 mph, not a bad days ride

Ride 23/11/2019

It’s a fairly mild day temp wise but it’s raining so suffice to say I got wet. It’s the usual bun run with about 10 of us, quite a lot given the weather I was expecting only a couple of us. It was a good ride never the less only marred by the fact my garmin didn’t stop when I did thus throwing out my avg speed >:-( Anyway I was glad to get back home and into a hot shower and some dry clothes.

Ride 17/11/2019

Ride 17/11/2019

It’s the usual Sunday bun run but it’s actually quite sunny today, which of course made for quite a cold day to start with but the roads were clear of ice at least. We skipped some of the back roads due to fears of ice but it was actually ok by the time we were heading home road condition wise so we took the usual back roads to Kincardine. Skipping some of the back roads did shave off a couple of miles otherwise I would have done 1 52 mile bike ride rather than 49 miles but speed was consistent with the Sunday run so I clocked up 15 mph.

Ride 16/11/2019

Another cold start to this mornings bun run and with some ice on the road we decided to stick to the main roads rather than risk the untreated back roads. There was a good turn out today with about 12 of us but this meant a slightly slower ride than usual just making the 15 mph. This left me a little bit cold in my extremities, toes and fingers but did mean I had a far easier ride than last week!
