Ride 28/12/2024

15 of us on the bun run today and weather wise its overcast, mild with some wind but thankfully no rain. Doing the usual route today would of course mean a head wind to start with so I lead out with Colin for the first 10 miles before we peeled off and let someone else lead. We took a slight detour to the cafe stop to skip out some of the hills, basically following the reverse of the Sunday run to get to the cafe stop at Sterling Mills. The usual scrambled egg roll and OJ were the fuel of the day. Afterwards we headed along the hillfoots to Dollar and Yetts o’Muckhart before swinging South to go over Knockhill and back down to Dunfermline and home. So 47 miles clocked up at an avg speed of 16 mph which puts me at just over 9500 miles for the year, a little bit down on last year, but given the health issues this year thats not too bad and I’m now bad up to my previous performance so all looking good for next year 😀

Ride 14/12/2024

9 of us on the bun run this morning and weather wise it very cold with patchy ice here and there but dry, no rain, and little wind with some sunny spells mixed in. We did the usual route today with some minor detours to stick to roads that had been gritted but still ended up at Sterling Cafe for our coffee stop. I had the usual orange juice and scrambled egg roll before we headed home again. The route home was over Knockhill, done at a fare pace but I was happy with it as I can keep up now, before descending back down to Dunfermline. So 46 miles clocked up at an avg speed of 15 mph, and there won’t be an outdoors ride tomorrow due to the bad weather conditions.

Ride 08/12/2024

Well after yesterdays storm there was 6 of us on the bun run this morning. Doing the usual route today with a slight change in the cafe stop, going to Cafe 44 rather than Sterling Mills, although Sterling Mills would have been the better place given the fiasco we had at Cafe 44 🙄 Weather wise it was dry with some sunshine to begin with, still a bit windy, but most of it was crosswinds but cold, so I had plenty of layers on. We made it to Cafe 44 fairly quickly, its a closer cafe stop and we were keeping a steady pace. Coffee and cake were had at the cafe but it was a slow service but paying turned out to be a real issue given they couldn’t take card payments and even when we tried to pay cash this was a problem as well 😬 I didn’t have any cash so David covered our table but man what a piss take, won’t be going back there any time soon. Anyway after we got back on the road it was fine, still kept a good pace all the way back home. I’m glad to see that my performance it back up and I had a decent ride today where I could put power down and hold it without running out of breath 😁 Although today wasn’t the fastest Sunday ride it was still a good 50 miles at an avg speed of 16 mph and I’m happy with that as I don’t feel knackered and still have some effort left in the tank, lets hope things improve and don’t fall off a cliff again.

Ride 01/12/2024

7 of us on the bun run this morning doing the usual route along to Sterling Mills Cafe. Weather wise same as yesterday, overcast, although the sun did come out eventually, little wind and damp, so we got muddy as yesterday. Soup and coffee were the order for the day before we headed back the normal route. Standard day nothing special so 50 miles clocked up at an avg speed of just shy of 16 mph, fine with me 😊

Forgot to post this yesterday, so here is it today. 22 of us on the bun run this morning and weather wise its overcast, a little wet, but not raining, with a little wind but not enough to cause any headaches.We split into 2 groups with me going in the first group doing the usual bun run heading for Muircot but with the cafe stop just down the road at Stirling Mills. With the roads wet we were a little mucky by the time we got there upon which I went for my usual scrambled egg roll and OJ. Afterwards we headed out towards Dollar and up to Yetts before swinging South up and over Knockhill and back down to Dunfermline and home. So 50 miles clocked up at an avg speed of 16 mph, even though I was in the first group we kept a steady pace and didn’t go hard so the speed was kept sensible today 😁
