So today we decided to mix it up a bit and do a clockwise loop around Leven than an anti-clockwise loop around Kincardine and Alloa. We started as we normally do going over Knockhill but then headed East towards Kinross and around Loch Leven. Lunch stop was at the Loch Leven Larder and with the weather being better today than yesterday, ie it was sunny, we sat outside for coffee and cake. We still started out in a headwind but once around Loch Leven we had a tailwind for the route home. I was a bit short on millage today going this alternate route so I did an extra loop around Cowdenbeath to make it up to the usual 50 miles and again keeping up the 16 mph avg, all in all it was a good days ride

There was quite a lot of us today, 17 of us, which is surprising given we’re still in lock down, albeit easing. So we split into 2 groups we me leading the first group. Weather wise it’s ok, no rain a little sun but a bit windy. We did start with a tail wind so the ride to the cafe stop was quite quick, sitting outside was fine, it’s not as cold as last week thankfully. For the homeward leg we were into a head wind so I settled at the back as I was planning to do 65 miles today which meant that once we were over Knockhill I was on my own into the wind all the way to Glenrothes, my turning point before heading home. But this did mean I would have a tailwind going home which was good as at this point I was getting tired, I had maintained an avg speed of 16 mph at this point. So 67 miles clocked up at an avg speed of 16.6 mph and I’m happy with that if not quite tired now.

Another wet, windy day but not quite as cold as yesterday. There were 6 of us today with it raining on the first half of the ride up till the cafe stop, again I had my wetgear and was grateful for it. Thankfully we could sit inside the cafe stop today so coffee and cake it was. After the fuel stop it stopped raining and the wind was a crosswind for the ride today so it wasn’t too hard a ride today with me making 16 mph avg speed. And yes I had my garmin today but my heart rate monitor was playing up today so not a good Tech weekend, especially since I broke my Internet yesterday and only got it fix today prior to writing this post, but we have normality now

So todays ride was a wet, windy cold affair only made worse by the fact that when I switched on ,y Garmin this morning it only had 9% battery life left so I couldn’t use that. There were 12 of us today and we were outside for the cafe stop again, thankfully I had my wet gear with me so I didn’t get too wet or cold. I didn’t do the 50 miles today only the usual 45, the weather sucks and I wasn’t motivated enough to do the extra 5 miles

6 of us today and although it was sunny it was still cold It was the usual Sunday bun run route with a cafe stop and a good one for cake a coffee. I was given a very generous (big) slice of carrot cake with my coffee with the only down side being we had to sit outside, in the cold. Thankfully it’s not Baltic but it does make the start up again even colder as you have cooled right down whilst eating and drinking, I’ll be glad when we can sit inside the cafe again. It was a good ride, nothing too stressful with an avg speed of 15 mph for the 50 mile ride, roll on for the warmer weather where I can start to bump up the mileage a bit more over the weekends.

So with the first of the month the cafe stops are back open today Big crowd of us today 18 in total, its not particularly sunny or warm, it even rained to start with. But by after 10 miles or so it stopped raining and we had light winds so it was a quick pace to start with but thats probably because I was leading It was nice to stop at the cafe but we had to sit outside, too many of us for inside, so it was a bit chilly for that but I didn’t freeze thankfully. The return home was via Kelty again to get the 50 miles and the avg speed was 16 mph so happy with that.
Ride 25/04/2021 Spinning
So today’s goal was to ride 4 hours indoors to get my Garmin Connect badge for this. I got to 4 hours and felt fine so I decided to extend this to 75 miles :-D. Not the fastest ride, I was taking it easy just to get to the time limit, but overall I’m happy with the result and that’s the greatest mileage I’ve done for a spinning session

On call this week so spinning it is.
Ride 18/04/2021
Bit of a dull day with a few spots of rain but light winds. 5 of us today doing the normal Sunday bun run with me having my gear issues going over Knockhill. For whatever reason my gear shifter stuck, none of us could figure out why and I was stuck in 11th gear. I though I would have to abandon the ride but loosening off the gear cable to get a smaller gear did the trick to free up the leaver and I was able to carry one. Still not sure what happened but something I might need to watch out for. 50 miles knocked out at the usual 15 mph which was fine for me after yesterdays 65 miler.

Another sunny day but still pretty cold in the morning. 15 of us today so we split into 2 groups again to do the usual bun run route. I was looking to do 65 miles today so once we had got over Knockhill I headed for my loop around Loch Leven to make up the extra mileage. Did well today speed wise I kept a steady 16 mph up for the entire ride, last time I did 65 miles I think I was around the 14 mph mark
Ride 11/04/2021
Another stupid cold day only this time it felt worse There were 6 of us today but we weren’t going particularly hard at lest not enough to warm me up. I started at the back until we hit Dollarbeg at which point I took lead to warm me up a bit. It’s a bright sunny day but we still had the little flurry of snow here and there but it was nice get get back home and have a hot shower! 50 miles clocked up but at a slower pace than yesterday.
Ride 10/04/2021
Sunny but bloody cold day, there were 13 of us today so we split into a group of 6 and 7 with a small 5 min gap between us. I was in the leading 6 group and we did the usual Sat bun run route with me splitting from the group after crossing knock hill so I could get my usual 50 miles ride. I did the little extra by going through Lochgelly and Auchtertool to get back home.
