Ride 17/10/2021 100 km Randonee
Today was the last of the clubs organised ‘longer’ rides, with today’s being around the 100 km mark. It’s a wet day, not torrential rain, but a consistent flow but thankfully not too cold either, with my wet gear on I stayed reasonable dry. We headed over the river and for the “Bathgate Alpes” just south of Falkirk, my old stomping grounds. I was familiar with the route so I knew what to expect. We stopped at Beecraigs for our cafe stop and then headed on quieter roads for South Queensferry where we would be crossing the Forth road bridge. With 8 of us today, due to the not so good weather, we then headed up to Crossgates and split to our own ways home. I decided to do a little loop to get the 65 miles I was after but over all we were a bit slow today averaging 14 mph which to be honest I didn’t mind after nearly a full week of cycling
